Eat something differently, not something different.

Sometimes I’m poor and I have to eat things I normally wouldn’t, like last night I ate a salad with green peppers and asian vinaigrette.

Except for the salad, I had an entire head of iceberg lettuce in one had, and a green pepper in the other. I have this spray asian salad dressing that I just spray in my mouth after I take a bit out of each hand. It was pretty good, and actually really filling. Afterward I remembered seeing something on competitive eaters eating massive amounts of lettuce to stretch their stomachs as training. Now I see why.

This also translates into my recent baked potato theory. A few months ago I decided to stop putting things on top of my baked potatoes and focus on the quality of the ingredient rather than covering it up with salty or fatty toppings. I’m not on a diet or anything but, baked potatoes are delicious. There are a wide variety of flavors and textures to inside just one type of potato, depending on how long you bake it, at what temperature, if you poke holes in it or not, how long you wait to open it. Lately I’ve been really into this minimalist style of tasting food, maybe it has something to do with my using up all my food before I move on august, or perhaps I’m secretly following Ghandi’s advice to “never spice your food.” Either way, give it a shot, it’s kinda fun.
